Alberta Post-Secondary Science Hub
Alberta’s Minister of Advanced Education Rajan Sawhney announced a commitment of $55 million over three years to build the seven-floor structure. The university’s science dean said the building would be designed to encourage multidisciplinary collaboration, have incubator space, and allow industry to come in and work alongside the researchers.

Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University documented in vitro gametogenesis, or IVG, in a mouse model. The technique relies upon transferring the nucleus of a skin cell into a donated egg that has been removed. It could be used by women of advanced maternal age or those who are unable to produce viable eggs due to previous treatment for cancer or other causes.

Some of the students learned how the salinity of water affects its density (Wyatt), how plants and animals react to sounds in their environments (Mykayla), Eli explored the world of homemade bottle rockets using hairspray and a spark.

UC Merced Mother Daughter Science Camp
UC Merced’s NSF-funded CREST Center for Cellular and Biomolecular Machines (CCBM) hosted the event as part of the seven-week Mother Daughter Science Camp.
