NASA Launches New Research and Technology Demos
Launch is targeted for 4:55 p.m. EDT Thursday, lifting off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The U.S. Space Force 45th Weather Squadron predicts a 90% chance of favorable weather conditions at the launch pad for liftoff. Live launch coverage will air on NASA+, NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.

How to Overcome Language Barriers in Academic Publishing
The use of English as the norm poses challenges for scholars from regions where English is not widely spoken. They must decide whether to publish in English for global visibility, or publish in their native language to make their work accessible to local communities. And when they work in English, they end up expending more time and effort writing and revising papers than their native English-speaking peers. We reviewed the policies of 736 journals in the biological sciences.

Could a Drug mimic the cellular effects of exercise?
The goal is to make a drug that flips switches in human cells that would normally be activated by exercise. These switches help maintain and regenerate muscle mass and boost the activity of cells' power houses, for example. Being able to trigger these cellular changes without exercise would be useful for older people, people with muscle-wasting disorders and those who might lose muscle mass while taking weight-loss-inducing drugs.

UTHSC Health Hub: Soulsville
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, the Soulsville Foundation and Soulsville community, and the Kemmons Wilson Family Foundation announced Tuesday they are partnering to bring convenient and affordable primary care to Soulsville. The UTHSC Health Hub: Soulsville will open in the fall at 870 E. McLemore Ave. The care will be targeted to the residents of Soulsville, and personnel for the hub will be from the community or deeply rooted in the community.

UNC Charlotte STEAM Expo, part of the NC Science Festival, and Charlotte Kids Fest return to UNC Carolina on April 14. These two free events offer unique experiences for children, encouraging them to engage in fun, creative, interactive and informative activities and live performances. ASTER Images Earth
Archaeological excavations have discovered the remains of the earliest humans on the European continent, dating back 1.4 million years. The image was acquired August 10, 2023, covers an area of 22.6 by 23.7 km, and is located at 37.7 degrees north, 2.5 degrees west. ASTER is one of five Earth-observing instruments launched Dec. 18, 1999, on Terra.
