IWD is an annual reminder for us all to review and reset where we are on not only women's participation in traditionally male industry such as IT, and where Australia stands around Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) in general. It should also push Australian lawmakers, company boards and the superannuation industry, which invest in them, to reconsider their strategies around Diversity and Equality. In those industries, the median pay gap was 26.2%, down from 19.8% last year.

Linwei Ding allegedly transferred confidential information from Google's network to his personal account while secretly affiliated with Chinese-based companies in the AI industry. In June 2022, Ding was approached by the chief executive of a Chinese early-stage technology company, Beijing Rongshu Lianzhi Technology Co (Rongshu) and offered the position of chief technology officer with a monthly salary of $14,800, the indictment said.

Chinthaka Premachandra and Mr. Yugo Kinasada from Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan, developed a novel artificial intelligence (AI)-based noise cancelling system. The system generates a similar sound as the UAV noise and then substracts that sound from the sound captured by the onboard microphones. This can be immensely useful in searching for victims in collapsed houses and rubble in the aftermath of natural disasters like earthquakes.
