Gram-Negative Post-Pastorization Contamination Patterns in Single-Serve Fluid Milk
a subset of 245 isolates is not represented here, including 135 isolates that were collected from direct plating of samples. The researchers recruited four commercial milk processing facilities to collect data on single-serving carton samples of skim, white 1%, chocolate and chocolate 1% milk. By day 7, one facility saw gram-negative spoilage at 30%, rising to 41% by day 14.

The Gray Whale Off New England
The gray whale disappeared from the Atlantic Ocean two centuries ago. Scientists are thrilled with the discovery but say it shows the effects of climate change on sea life. The whale, which can weigh over 27,000 kilograms, usually lives in the northern Pacific Ocean.

New Bifunctional Catalyst for the Removal of 2-Chloroethyl Ethyl Sulfide and Phenolic Compounds
Scientists from Bohai University in China have designed and synthesized a bifunctional catalyst that can solve the environmental pollution caused by mustard gas and phenolic compounds. The team successfully catalyzed the selective oxidation of toxic CEES to the corresponding safer sulfoxide in the presence of H 2 O 2 , or hydrogen peroxide, as an eco-friendly oxidant.

Time Zones and DST - The Future of Time
In the U.S., all the time zones except Pacific Time encompass areas west of what would be the natural time-zone boundary. In these ETLs, sunrise and sunset time may occur more than an hour later than the eastern side of the time zone, according to a study published in JAMA Network Open in 2022. The study suggests that even dim light can suppress melatonin production and delay sleep.
