Scientists from Bohai University in China have designed and synthesized a bifunctional catalyst that can solve the environmental pollution caused by mustard gas and phenolic compounds. The team successfully catalyzed the selective oxidation of toxic CEES to the corresponding safer sulfoxide in the presence of H 2 O 2 , or hydrogen peroxide, as an eco-friendly oxidant.
