COVID-19 Vaccine Bundling Using Text Messages
We used Prolific’s screening system to identify participants who had completed the COVID-19 primary vaccine series at the time of our study and did not obtain any vaccine dose in September, October or November 2022. In Main, participants were randomly assigned to one of the three messages tested in our third RCT. The results were deemed non-human subject research by the Institutional Review Board at Carnegie Mellon University (reference number 21-000268)

Pi Day - The First Three Digits of an Infinite Number
Pi is a mathematical constant that expresses the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It is part of many formulas used in physics, astronomy, engineering and other fields, dating back thousands of years to ancient Egypt, Babylon and China. In 2009, U.S. Congress designated every March 14 to be the big day — to hopefully spur more interest in math and science. Today, using sophisticated computers, researchers have come up with trillions of digits for pi

Exploring the Noctis Volcano on Mars
The “Noctis volcano” has been camouflaged by erosion over the years, escaping detection despite being imaged repeatedly by orbiting spacecraft since 1971. The discovery, led by Dr. Pascal Lee of the SETI Institute and the Mars Institute, looks at the enigmatic region where the volcano lives. It is a testament to Mars’ dynamic geological past, offering compelling clues about its climatic conditions and potential habitability.

Noctis Volcano on Mars
The volcano, which is 280 miles wide, was found alongside a possible sheet of buried glacier ice in the eastern part of Mars' Tharsis volcanic province, near the planet's equator. Scientists say the volcano has been eroded and beyond easy recognition. The discovery was made while a team of scientists was studying suspected glacier remnants and potential landing site for astronauts nearby.

Sydney Scientists Keep Livers Alive Outside the Body
Sydney scientists have kept two human livers alive outside the body for a week. An organ-preserving machine, nicknamed a “liver in a box”, nourished the organs with blood and plasma, drained away bile, kept the livers at body temperature and allowed the researchers to tweak pH, CO2 and oxygen levels.
