Prediction of Quantum Entanglement in Particle Jets lays Groundwork for experimental tests at particle colliders
The concept of a quantum — the tiniest, discrete amount of something — was first developed to explain the behavior of the smallest bits of matter and energy. Over the last century, scientists have developed mathematical descriptions of how these particles and packets of energy interact. But even before these applications reach the mainstream, scientists are developing quantum code to perform quantum calculations — and using it to track complex quantum systems.

Impact of Expected Utility Forecasting in Science Grants
In our pilot, we recruited a small cohort of reviewers to review a proposal based on their subject matter expertise. We chose to use an exponential scale with a base of 2 for defining the expected utility of each proposal. For each proposal, reviewers were asked to submit their forecasts on Metaculus’ website. This is a logical approach to improving the rigor of peer review. Our pilot study was conducted in fall of 2023.
