Betelgeuse's "Boiling" Surface Could Be the Reason for the Fast Spin
Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that is 1,000 times more massive than the sun, making it one of the largest known stars in the universe. Its extreme size makes it a stellar infant compared with stars like the sun. But when it eventually runs out of fuel, it will explode in a supernova, which will shine as bright as a full moon in the sky.

JPL - Lt. Gen. James
Lt. Gen. James was the Air Force deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance in Washington before retiring from active duty and coming to JPL. Earlier in his career, he trained as an Air Force payload specialist for the Space Shuttle Program. James also served as vice commander of the air Force Space and Missile Systems Center in Los Angeles.

U.S. Science Envoy Program Names 4 Science Envoys
The State Department has selected four scientists to serve as the agency’s 2024 U.S. Science Envoys to help develop international engagement on key science and technology issues. This year’s envoys were selected to “take advantage of their expertise in key issues facing the world today: Artificial Intelligence; Fusion Energy; Civil Use of Space; and Ocean Sustainability” the agency said.

Yarmouth High School team students won their regional competition for the National Science Bowl this month. They will compete next month in the national finals in Washington, D.C. The National science Bowl brings together middle and high school students from across the country to solve technical problems.

The Bollman Gymnasium was filled with rows of poster board displays as the venue played host to the 72nd annual Reading-Berks Science and Engineering Fair.
