Aspen City Council approved on a 4-1 vote Tuesday staff’s request for a contract with CCY Architects for Armory Hall design services. Staff had advertised a request for proposal (RFP) for design team to develop construction documents for the remodel from Oct. 26 to Dec. 18, 2023. Within that time, the city received nearly all proposals having a Colorado or Roaring Fork Valley connection.

Military service members and civilians stationed in Area I welcomed the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to the Republic of Korea during the USO’s 85th tour, South Korea, Feb. 25 and 26. Jennifer Friess, associate director of curatorial affairs and associate curator of photography, is heading into her eighth year working at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Most recently, she collaborated with artist Andrea Carlson on an exhibition that tells the stories of the Burt Lake Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians who were forced off their northern Michigan land in 1900.

Dallas Seavey won a record-breaking sixth championship in the Iditarod sled dog race. The race started March 2 for 38 mushers with a ceremonial run in Anchorage. He was the first Alaskan to win a USA national wrestling championship in 2003. In 2005, he became the youngest islamher to run in the race - and in 2012, its youngest champion.
