The Supreme Court Orders SBI to Disclose Election Bond Numbers
The Supreme Court was hearing an application filed today by the Election Commission seeking modification of its March 11 order in the electoral bonds case. The EC stated that copies of the documents submitted by it to the Supreme Court in sealed cover during the course of hearing be maintained. A separate plea submitted by NGO Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) challenging the exclusion of the Chief Justice of India from a panel for the selection of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners was also set to come up for hearing on Friday.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) released the list of entities involved in the sales and purchase of contentious electoral bonds on Thursday. The Supreme Court had directed the Election Commission to publish details of the now-scrapped electoral bonds and political parties that redeemed them on Thursday. The SC in its February order gave a landmark judgement by scrapping the Electoral Bonds scheme. The court called it “unconstitutional". It should also be found out who donated to the PM-CARES.
