Rocky Mountain Lab in Hamilton, a campus of the National Institutes of Health, is providing an afterschool program called Biomedical Research Afterschool School Scholars (BRASS) Each Wednesday, seventh- and eighth-grade students learn about and research cell biology, infectious diseases, immunology/blood, biomedical chemistry, animal use in research, comparative anatomy and veterinary support. Students were introduced to the concept of medicine, how scientists find medicinal properties, identify molecules that can be therapeutic and how they design pills.
