Ray Whitcomb is a modern-day King Midas, turning abandoned materials into the gold of firepits, life-size firefly sculptures, frog and owl sculptures and birds of prey wall art. He’s got a six-person, part-time crew and today somebody’s out sick, somebody else is new and needs training, and a customer has been parsing the junk outside for an hour. His office also functions as a gallery of sorts, decorated with basketball
