The North Charleston Sports Complex
North Charleston invested $25 million to build the North Charleston Sports Complex after demolishing the Danny Jones Athletic Center over a year ago. The new sports facility has a 25-meter competitive pool, and a multi-use gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and badminton. City officials say the new space will increase the city’s position as a premier spot for sporting events.

The Potomac Yard Arena in Alexandria, Virginia Will Not Be Home to the Washington Capitals or Wizards
State will not be home to the Washington Capitals or Wizards anytime soon. At a news conference, Mayor Muriel Bowser and Monumental Owner Ted Leonsis announced that Monumental Sports had reached an agreement to keep the teams at Capital One Arena in D.C. until 2050. A petition they launched had more than 3,100 signatures as of Wednesday night.

The 9th Annual Yooper Squirrel Derby raised $3,300 earlier this month for youth shooting sports. The hunt, held March 16, drew the largest group of hunters ever seen for the event. Each hunter paid $10 to participate in the 100% payout event and was allowed to hunt until 5 p.m.
