Hubble Celebrates 34th Anniversary With a Look at the Little Dumbbell Nebula
astronomers took a snapshot of the Little Dumbbell Nebula located 3400 light-years away in the northern circumpolar constellation Perseus. M76 is classified as a planetary nebula, an expanding shell of glowing gases that were ejected from a dying red giant star. The star eventually collapses to an ultra-dense and hot white dwarf. This sloughed-off material created a thick disc of dust and gas.

Bugs Matter Survey: Drivers Are Being Asked to Count Dead Bugs on Their Cars
Drivers were asked to count the number of dead insects on their windscreens. The citizen science survey led by Kent Wildlife Trust and Buglife showed a 78 percent decline in "bug splats' on number plates across the UK since 2004. It is based on the windscreen phenomenon anecdotal evidence from drivers who claim they are encountering fewer moths, flies, aphids, bees and flying beetles on their number plates

GCSE Pupils Less Engaged in Science With Video Demonstrations
Just over a quarter (26%) of GCSE pupils reported doing hands-on practical work at least fortnightly. This was lower than in 2019 (37%) and 2016 (44%) when Year 10 and 11 pupils were surveyed on the frequency of practical work, according to the report. There has been a “marked shift away” from more interactive forms of practical works as videos of practicals are increasingly being used as a replacement.

Cancer Cells - A New Method to Study the Fat Content of Cancer Cells
Scientists are celebrating a new technique that lets them study the fatty contents of cancer cells, one by one. A study led by the University of Surrey has sampled single live cancer cells and measured fatty lipid compounds inside them. The work appears in Analytical Chemistry.
