Infertility Treatment Using Skin Cell Nucleus Transfer
Researchers at OHSU documented in vitro gametogenesis, or IVG, in a mouse model. The technique relies upon transferring the nucleus of a skin cell into a donated egg. This process is similar to meiosis, when cells divide to produce mature sperm or egg cells. In the next phase of this research, we will determine how we enhance that pairing so each chromosome-pair separates correctly.

I was excited to learn of Mayor Michelle Wu’s $4.7 million in funding to support the life science and climate tech industries. I was especially interested in larger funding rounds for biomanufacturing, early-stage drug and device makers, and increased workforce training and internships to bring more blue-collar workers and students without college degrees into life science workforce. My City at Peace and HYM Investment Group proposes to build 700,000 square feet of life science space on Parcel 3 in Roxbury.

Alabama High Schoolers Can Get A Head-Start In Their Careers For Free Through a New Interdisciplinary Program at the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science
ASMS — a public residential STEM school in Mobile, Alabama — is introducing two specialized academic tracks for students in Engineering and Medical Sciences. Students who enroll in the program will stay in on-campus residence halls. According to the release, the free-of-charge program offers college-level classes to earn college credit at in-state universities.

The new local daylight time will therefore be 3:00am, so don’t worry about missing that morning meeting.
