Carbon Dioxide - A Threat to Climate Change
Average global concentrations of CO2 were 50 percent above pre-industrial levels for the first time in 2022, according to the World Meteorological Organisation. CO2 levels again rose in 2023, the global weather agency said. The scientists utilised electrochemical processes to turn CO2 into formic acid.

What Are Things Made Of?
On Monday a team of six PhDs and PDRAs from Durham Physics visited Rydal Academy in Darlington to talk about science to 90 students across three sessions in Years 1. Activities included why objects make different sounds when struck, making tunes with improvised trumpets, how rainbows work and why kitchen roll doesn’t make a very good umbrella. Volunteers, teachers and schoolchildren all really enjoyed the sessions and we’re all looking forward to next time!
