The Oso Landslide
Scientists believe groundwater and rainfall at the time played a major role in the speed and impact of the slide and that it may not have moved as far if the material was denser and drier. The Geotechnical Extreme Event Reconnaissance team began compiling data and studying the history of the site, from the rainfall that triggered the event.

Marine Cloud Brightening - Physical Science Research Needed to Evaluate the Viability and Risks
Marine cloud brightening (MCB) is one of two primary solar radiation modification methods being proposed to offset the worst effects of global warming while decarbonization advances. MCB proposals involve the injection of salt spray into shallow marine clouds to brighten them, increasing their reflection of sunlight and reducing the amount of heat absorbed by the water below. A group of 31 leading atmospheric scientists are now offering a consensus physical science research roadmap.

Red Coast Season 2 Review
In this episode, we learn more about Mike Evans, a man with seemingly deep pockets to get whatever he wants done, thanks to his massive privately owned oil company. At one time, he was a dedicated environmentalist, living a solitary existence re-planting trees in Northwestern China to protect an endangered species of brown swallow. But whatever happened after he met Auggie out there — perhaps the construction of a radio astronomy lab on his land — led him to become the very thing he

The History of the Indian Astronomy
India was the place of origin of some of the most fundamental scientific concepts. From zero and square roots to the decimal system, Indian mathematicians laid the ground for modern maths as far back as 1200 BCE. The contribution of Indian scientists can be traced through our archives in all branches of science, and India endures as a place of inspiration, fascination and exploration.

Genetics Lab at RIT
Students are sequencing DNA from local salamanders and examining microbes to learn how to protect them from such pathogens. The new lab space in Brown Hall allows for students to get hands-on experience early on in their academic careers. It’s a big part of what makes that lab special,” says Hannah Zarum.

RNA Polymerase Backtracking - A New Way to Control RNA
RNA polymerase (blue) reads DNA (purple) and jots down its instructions in a new molecule called RNA (red) The human body's roughly 30 trillion cells don't need all of their genes switched on at once. For a cell to function properly, the genetic code in that DNA is copied down into RNA molecules through a process called transcription. There are myriad factors that determine which genes need to be turned on, such as the type of cell

Impact Analysis of SCOPUS and RP
In phase I, the scientific GI and RP literature of the SCOPUS database was systematically reviewed to identify relevant work for phase II. In phase II, an inductive and deductive text content analysis in MaxQDA was performed to identify the impacts of heat mitigation strategies (co-benefit, trade-off, disservice, and neutral effects)
