Malaria Vaccine Launched in Benin, Liberia and Sierra Leone
Benin, Liberia and Sierra Leone launched large-scale malaria vaccine programs. The three West African countries are the latest to participate after successful rollouts of routine malaria immunization for children in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya and Malawi. Benin has 215,900 doses of the vaccine, which will be available to children from around 5 months old.

Victorian Schools to Learn About Menstruation and Pelvic Pain
A $900,000 investment will see Victorian students learn about menstrual health and pelvic pain from next year. A study of 1000 girls aged 16-18 years in Canberra found 21 per cent had severe pain with periods, and 26 per cent missed school because of period symptoms. The Allan Government has pledged at least 400 in-person sessions will be delivered to public schools. Topics will include “curriculum-aligned, age-appropriate and evidence-based information”.

Economic Development for Central Oregon released its 2024 Central Oregon Largest Employers List on Thursday. This year the top 50 private companies collectively employ 22,340 Central Oregonians, or roughly 20% of the region’s March 2024 annual average total non-farm employment of 107,550. St. Charles Health System tops the list again, by far, employing 4,791 people regionwide, an 8.9% increase since last year at the same time.
