AI-powered tools can accurately identify cases of health care-associated infections (HAI) even in complex clinical scenarios. The study highlights the need for clear and consistent language when using AI tools for this purpose. About 3% of all hospital patients have at least one HAI at any given time.

Black Maternal Health Summit
Most of these deaths are preventable, according to the Ohio Department of Health’s Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (PAMR) committee. Most of the women who died in Cuyahoga County were Black, had Medicaid insurance and had a high school diploma or less education. Case Western Reserve University’s Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Northern Ohio will host its first summit dedicated to Black Maternal Health Equity in April.

Allina Health to Close ICU at Fridley Hospital
Allina Health plans to close the ICU at its Fridley hospital and no longer do surgeries there. It also will get rid of its pediatric inpatient beds at its Coon Rapids hospital. Concerned providers say the cuts will create a care desert in the area.
