Wichita animal shelters and rescue groups are making their concerns known over a state law related to animal health and transfers. This comes after the Kansas Humane Society learned that a shelter had been cited by KDA for taking several parvovirus-positive dogs from the organization. The law causing the concerns limits transfers to a veterinarian for care and requires that the animal return to the shelter once cleared.

California’s second-largest school district and San Diego YMCA are expanding resources to support youth mental health. State officials awarded $67 million to 99 organizations in 30 counties to expand mental health and wellness services for children, youth and young adults across the state.
