High School Drug Use Among Teens
Regular use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs among high school students has been on a long downward trend. In 2023, 46 percent of seniors said that they’d had a drink in the year before being interviewed. That is a precipitous drop from 88 percent in 1979, when the behavior peaked.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s plan for a conservative alternative to Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion has cost taxpayers at least $26 million so far. Georgia’s GOP-led state legislature has rejected what Democrats say would be a far simpler way to cover the state’s low-income workers: expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. In striking contrast, North Carolina has enrolled 380,000 beneficiaries in its Medicaid expansion as of March 1.

NHS Paying for ADHD Treatments
NHS is believed to be paying for thousands of ADHD patients to be treated at private clinics to help meet the unprecedented demand for assessments. Clinics claim they are receiving referrals from the health service to clear waiting lists which are up five-fold since before the pandemic. It comes during a 50 per cent rise in referrals for autism in the past year and a 51 per cent increase in the number of people prescribed ADHD medication since 2019-20.

Health Counts 2024 launched last month and is led by the University of Brighton. GP practices across the city will be inviting their patients to take part in the survey via text alerts. The confidential online survey asks questions about health and lifestyle issues local people experience in different parts of Brighton and Hove. Health Concerns in Yanomami
Brazil's top public health institute released a report on mercury exposure. The study was conducted in nine villages along the Mucajai River, a remote region where illegal mining is widespread. Most of Yanomami tested had contamination equal to or above 2 micrograms per gram. Eating fish with high mercury levels is the most common path of exposure, according to standards by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
