The Red Eye Disease Epidemic in Uganda
According to the Ministry of Health, there are three main types of conjunctivitis: infectious, allergic and chemical. The first cases of red eye disease were detected in Kassanda and Kaweeri prisons on February 26, information from the Health ministry shows that many patients present with symptoms such as red eyes, itching, tearing, swelling, grainy sensation, headache and fever. By March 6, the total reported cases had shot up to 3, according to official records from the ministry.

German Doctors Need More Support to Work in the Healthcare System
Germany is emerging as a favored destination for migrating doctors. According to the German Medical Association, approximately 60,000 doctors without German citizenship currently work in the country, about 12% of the medical workforce. The majority of foreign-born doctors in Germany originate from other European countries or Middle Eastern nations, with the largest group coming from Syria.

Schlumberger Ltd SLB has supported a total of 863 women to pursue PhDs and post-doctoral research in STEM disciplines at leading universities and research institutions outside their home countries. Mr Ernest Rubondo, the ED Petroleum Authority of Uganda said since its inception in 2004 the SLB Faculty for the Future programme has benefitted eight63 women.
