Dozens of women across the Haudenosaunee Confederacy have helped sew ribbon skirts as a part of exchange between communities to honour missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. The exchange occurs around Red Dress Day, which is observed on May 5. Some of the women who contributed skirts are family members of MMIWG, or have experienced violence themselves. Others just love to sew, or wanted to learn.

In 2021-22, Indigenous women aged 15 and over were 33 times more likely to be hospitalised due to family violence. Similar numbers of non-Indigenous Australians were hospitalised by family violence, but Indigenous Australians represent just 3.8% of the population. Hospitalisation rates are higher in remote and very remote areas, and Indigenous families risk having their children removed by the state.

Experts say intermittent fasting and intense exercise can get better results than doing either one alone. They say people who combined the diet and exercise routines saw more pronounced changes in body composition and cardiometabolic parameters than people who did only diet or exercise. Congress passed a budget for Fiscal Year 2024 that cut NASA Science for the first time in a decade. This cut comes after five years of stagnant budgets that have not kept pace with inflation, leading to a $1 billion deficit from the agency’s peak funding year in 2020.
