Russian President Vladimir Putin Excoriates U.S. Democracy

Byron Janis died Thursday evening at a New York City hospital. "The passing of Byron, my husband of 58 years, is such a loss to me and the world," his widow says. Born in 1928, Janis launched his 85-year musical career as a child prodigy. He became the first student of Vladimir Horowitz in 1944.
