The Taliban are the only dictatorship in the world that has imposed more severe laws against women since seizing back control on August 15, 2021. This Decrees forbid women and girls from going to university or school past the 6th grade, limit their access to healthcare, forbid them from leaving the house without a male guardian, and remove numerous social and legal protections. The UN is attempting to maintain a hard stance with the Taliban.

Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education told legislators that the state’s campuses have almost $1.5 billion worth of leaky roofs, worn out heating and air conditioning, bad wiring, environmental hazards, chipped paint and buildings that need to be updated or demolished. According to the regents’ report, some campuses spend up to 30% of their annual budgets on maintenance and repairs. The need isn’t entirely with buildings approaching 100 years old.
