My sightings of plants, birds, other animals and their common behaviors never lose their charm and interest for me. This spring, I’ve enjoyed seeing the Eastern tiger swallowtail butterflies begin their puddling behavior when they gather in small groups to suck up salts and amino acids from fluids in dampened soil and dung. I did get confirmation on another small butterfly I had not seen before—a gemmed satyr.
