NSW Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig orders the Office of Local Government to investigate the Liberal-led Liverpool City Council in Sydney’s south-west. former Liberal MP John Ajaka stood down with pay from his $500,000-a-year job as chief executive of the council on Wednesday evening following a vote led by Liberal mayor Ned Mannoun. Amid rumours the council was planning to sack up to 150 staff, members of the United Services Union attended the Wednesday meeting and allegedly refused to leave.
