Hugh Armstrong is set to become the first Mayo runner to represent Ireland at this level in 52 years, going back to the 1972 International Cross Country in Cambridge. He is also using the event as part of his preparation for the Hamburg Marathon, four weeks later, eyeing up the Paris Olympic qualifying time of 2:08:10 (his best of 2:12.26 was set in Seville two years ago)
