Databricks will release DBRX under an open source license, allowing others to build on top of its work. OpenAI and Google keep the code for their GPT-4 and Gemini large language models closely held, but some rivals, notably Meta, have released their models for others to use. The company says it also wants to open up about the work involved in creating its open source model.
