Closing the gender gap could help raise global gross domestic product by more than 20 per cent, doubling the world's growth rate over the next decade. The World Bank says reforms have “slowed to a crawl” and governments need to haveten progress towards achieving gender equality in workplaces and in their regulatory frameworks. Women enjoy 64 per cent of legal protections globally available to men on average, significantly lower than previous estimate of 77 per cent.
