NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha was arrested on October 3 last year. The Delhi police special cell filed its first information report (FIR) in the case on August 17, 2023. An FIR was registered under sections 13 (unlawful activities), 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy) and 22C (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
