Centre for Smart Mining (CSM) was established in 2019 as a federally funded research hub focused on helping to solve technology adoption challenges for the mining sector . Some of the technical themes the CSM noticed were automation and robotics technologies, advanced mobility solutions, and industrial software . One of the areas that has been growing quickly in Ontario mining is the development and adoption of automated and autonomous systems . The CSM has taken on some important projects in this space recently .
