In the last eight years, Huang says Nvidia has increased the power of artificial intelligence by 1000 times every 10 years. The Blackwell chip, named after David Blackwell, was the clear star of Huang’s dog-and-pony show, which featured a string of slick animations and even two Disney robots. He argues that traditional computing has reached its limits and a shift to AI-fuelled accelerated computing is not just possible, but inevitable.
