The performance of the VORTXTM, tested according to a regulatory guideline, was found to meet 100% of blood oxygenation requirements at various blood flow rates. Pressure gradient is associated with high mechanical shear stress (HMSS), which plays a dominant role in damaging blood components such as red blood cells, immune cells, thrombocytes and more. For me, this is a very significant day in my career as a scientist.
