India started its journey way back in 1947 with a population of 33 crore. We started working primarily on communicable diseases, on immunisation programmes. In 2005, the Government of India launched a very important initiative: the National Rural Health Mission. The purpose is that, slowly, we should keep expanding our services and population coverage.
