Bobbi Knapp, associate professor of sport studies with a cross appointment in women, gender and sexuality studies, said SIU has a strong connection to the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) she noted that some female Salukis have played vital roles in the establishment and success of SIU.
