President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the facilities will serve as a nucleus for the soon-to-be-established University of Sports for Development. Ghana hosted the multi-sport event for the first time with nine venues including a US$145 million Borteyman sports complex. The 11,000-capacity University of Ghana Stadium was also completed with a newly constructed Rubgy Field.
