Oklahoma has low reading proficiency scores, and currently only 24% of Oklahoma children are reading at grade level. Since 2019, reading scores have dropped from an average of 216 to 208, and they have never been lower since 1992, when they were 215. The workplace should be supportive of that passion in a way that is productive to a teacher’s professional growth and development.
