Students in Columbia and Barnard’s Political Science Departments wrote a letter condemning President Shafik and supporting student protesters. The letter detailed President’s authorization of the NYPD to arrest students “engaged in a peaceful demonstration of their political views” The letter noted that “the dangerous nature of the Administration’s recent actions” have contributed to what has been described as a “tense and at times hostile environment”.
