Uganda is currently collecting 320,000 units of blood annually. Dr Aggrey Dhabangi warned that unnecessary blood transfusion should be avoided because there are “adverse outcomes” that can come from a transfusion. His argument is reinforced by a 2018 research report published in the scientific journal BMC Health Services Research.
