In the southern part of the state, winter lasts from December to January, with daytime highs ranging from approximately 50 degrees in the northernmost interior areas to near 70 along the coast and in the extreme south. For more years than I can remember, sideline, commercial and wannabe big beekeepers have moved colonies south for the winter. This is slowly helping the carryover inventory that has been a drag on almond prices the last few years.
