HD is a genetic, rare, neurodegenerative disorder that runs in families with an incidence of nearly one case per 100,000 persons worldwide annually. There is no cure for HD, nor disease-modifying therapies, only various medications and psychotherapy counseling to treat the mild-to-severe HD symptoms as the disease progresses and is eventually fatal. The HDSA has named UConn Health a HDSA Center of Excellence for three years.
