Health Savings Accounts and FSAs - What Is Eligible and What Doesn’t?

In 1976, the U.S. Tax Court ruled that special diets prescribed by a doctor could deduct as a medical expense some of the costs associated with their special diet. The IRS says some companies are misleading consumers about what is and is not eligible under these Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) The IRS said medical letters must result from face-to-face interactions with the patient, either in person or through telehealth visits.
