State Medicaid agencies will recruit licensed, Medicaid-enrolled behavioral health practices that offer outpatient mental health and/or SUD treatment services to participate in the IBH model. States will be looking to understand the extent to which IBH will support their existing efforts versus requiring states and practices to shift course. The model is expected to launch a three-year planning period in the last quarter of 2024.
