Health professionals in the Girona region have noticed an increase in hospital admissions for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases following episodes of air pollution. Asthma, recurrent bronchitis or broncholitis are the most common respiratory diseases in children after episodes. There is also evidence that air pollution affects mental health and on children's neurodevelopment.
