The Strange World Of Gurney Slade (1956-66) was the most popular show of the era. It was an exceptionally ruthless business, and Parnell was a pragmatist. He was able to make enemies, but was never afraid to exploit it. In the 1960s, Parnell resigned from the board of ATV in 1966.
