Whitefriargate once was Hull's great, bustling high street. Over the past two decades, however, the street has suffered sad decline as big retailers have moved out of town or collapsed. Now regeneration projects are offering fresh hope that the street – named after the Carmelite Friars, or "white friars', will enjoy a revival.
