In February of 2022, Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel broke ground on one of the most advanced steelmaking facilities ever built in North America. When it begins production this year, the $3 billion project promises to create some 900 jobs for local workers at six-figure salaries. It’s the largest private-sector project in the history of the state, it’s projected to create 3,000 jobs and 7,000 construction jobs.
