UK authorities have the power to fine companies up to 10% of their global turnover if greenwashing has been proven. In the UK, 4 out of 10 large businesses face hefty fines in 2024. This is a major toughening up of consumer protection law from the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) and the EU comes into force.
