Tiswas was an anarchic slice of West Midlands entertainment that gained custard pie flinging cult TV status in the 1970s. It stamped repeatedly on it, then threw the jagged shards at its pre-pubescent audiences. The chaotic programme – a cocktail of panto, pop and pratfalls – became wildly popular.
